Microsoft has reminded customers that systems running Windows 11 21H2 will be force-updated before the end of servicing next month.

Since Windows 11 21H2 devices will no longer receive security updates starting October 10, 2023, they will be updated to Windows 11 22H2 to continue receiving the latest updates, security updates, and improvements.

“To help keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for Windows 11 consumer devices and non-managed business devices that are at, or within several months of reaching, end of servicing,” Microsoft said on Thursday.

“This keeps your device supported and receiving monthly updates that are critical to security and ecosystem health.”

However, the systems will not be automatically restarted, and users can select a convenient time for their device to finalize the installation process for the Windows 11 2022 update.

This applies to Windows 11 21H2 editions released in October 2021, including Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations.

Redmond provides a support document and a step-by-step guide to assist users in resolving any problems encountered during the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade process.

Microsoft started force upgrading Windows 11 21H2 devices in January as part of an automated feature update rollout phase. These automatic updates are rolling out gradually, starting with systems that have been running Windows 11 21H2 for the longest time.

”In January 2023, Home and Pro consumer and non-managed business devices running Windows 11, version 21H2 started…
